Most announcements should be electronically distributed weekly prior to Sunday so they do not take time in sacrament meeting; the bishopric may give essential announcements briefly before the opening hymn (see General Handbook 29.2.2.2).
From Elder Quentin L. Cook's general conference talk Deep and Lasting Conversion to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ (after President Nelson's two-hour meeting block announcement), "To help members prepare for the Sabbath, some wards already send an informative email, text, or social media message midweek. In view of this adjustment, we strongly recommend this type of communication. These invitations will remind the members of the Sunday meeting schedule for that week, including the upcoming class lesson topic, and support continuing gospel conversation at home."

Dear Sisters and Brothers,
The First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles recently shared with us that “the children and youth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are beloved sons and daughters of God. They have the potential to make a great impact on the world”.
Our efforts as parents, friends, youth advisers and bishoprics, should represent a higher and holier way to encourage the rising generation to follow Jesus Christ and apply His gospel in all areas of their lives. This effort includes gospel learning, the privilege of service, personal development, and exciting activities. However, our prophet has reminded us that this effort starts at home. Parents have the sacred responsibility to teach their children in light and truth as church leaders offer valuable support and guidance.
So, how do we, as parents and youth advisers, do this? How do we encourage a rising generation? How do we teach them in light and truth? These are great questions that many of us will struggle with. May we share a few thoughts that we think will be helpful in accomplishing this effort?
First, we must have confidence and trust in our youth and children. Many experiences recorded in the scriptures make clear that God has confidence in the spiritual abilities of young people. Samuel was just a boy when he heard the Lord’s voice in the temple. Mormon was only 10 years old when he demonstrated the spiritual gifts that qualified him for his sacred mission. Joseph Smith was 14 when he was trusted with the revelation that initiated the Restoration. And the Savior Himself was just 12 when He was found in the temple, teaching and engaging in His Father’s work. Brothers and sisters, if you still have children at home, if you are a teacher or adviser for our youth, if you have grandchildren…you have the opportunity to help them fulfill the great work that Heavenly Father has prepared them to do.
Second, we need to strengthen the relationships that we have with our children and the youth in our wards. As shared by the First Presidency, the Lord has given parents the primary responsibility for teaching their children. As parents, we are the most important teacher in the lives of our children. We must develop relationships with our children so they will listen and feel, hear and believe in what we teach them. We must create healthy, happy relationships that will help draw our children and youth back to their heavenly home. Think for just a minute about the relationship we have with our Heavenly Father and the Savior. When we make mistakes, the Savior doesn’t say, ‘Go to your room.’ He says, ‘Come unto me.’ This statement alone can be our reminder of how kind and gentle our relationships should be with our own children and the youth we are called to help. We need to discover who our children really are. We need to know what interests them, what worries them, and what they want to accomplish in their life. It could easily be said, they need us and we need them.
Third, we need to listen to them. Sometimes we are so busy that we don’t take time to listen to our children or our youth. If we would just listen more, we could discover how to be successful with them. They are more likely to listen to us when they know they are listened to and understood. This means more than just ‘hearing’. It means listening with our heart and listen for those unspoken messages. Ask how they are feeling and for their opinions, and then listen.
One Sunday a primary teacher shared with me a question she asked the children in her primary class. She asked, “If you could make one rule for your parents, what would it be?” The first thought that came to my mind was to be careful what you ask a primary child because you will get an honest answer. One child shared, “Moms should never yell.” Another child said, “Dads should always tell the truth.” Do we exemplify in our own lives and personal behavior the things we want our children and youth to do?
When we hear that our son or daughter has been a problem in class, do we approach them almost accusatory by asking, ‘Were you noisy in class today?’ Remember, not “Go to your room,” but “Come unto me.” Perhaps a better approach is “Tell me about the young men quorums and activities. What is your favorite part? What happened in your class today? If you could change young men in any way, what would it be?” By communicating and really listening, we will learn more about what happened or why he acted the way he did. Then we can respond in a way that will help.
Fourth, be kind. Whenever I have asked a child or one of our youth what they like most about their best friend, a favorite teacher, neighbor, or relative, they almost always say, “She’s so nice,” or “He’s nice to me.” Kindness can be expressed in so many ways by all of us. It can be as simple as a kind look or a gentle touch. The tone of our voice can be kind, even during times when someone is being corrected. In our callings it can simply be knowing their names and remembering their birthdays. It’s that easy. I am frequently reminded of the wise counsel my mission president gave over forty years ago… “Tell and touch those you love every day”. Sisters and bothers, please don’t let a day go by that your children don’t know (tell) and feel (touch) your love for them.
And last, frequently share your understanding and testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Sharing your testimony gives your children and our youth the feeling that you care about them enough to share something dear to you. When you teach the principles of the gospel, you have given a child one of the greatest gifts you could give—standards to live by, or, in the words of Helaman, “a foundation whereon if men build, they cannot fall” (Helaman 5:12).
I hope you can see that it really isn’t very hard to develop a relationship with your children and our youth. Anyone can do it! Just remember, trust them; understand them; listen to them; be kind to them; love them; and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them. Easy things to remember! You don’t have to do it perfectly every day. It may take some time, some patience, some practice and many prayers. Some days may be really hard. But please know that it will be worth it. Just trust God to help you. Trust the feelings and impressions that come to you and act on them.
We love you. We have confidence in you. We promise that our Father in Heaven will continue to bless and sustain you as you lead and guide His children in faith.

Six chapters and other content have been revised in General Handbook: Serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Dear Leaders,
As a reminder, effective January 1, 2021, local unit leaders and clerks have been asked to record stake conference, sacrament meeting, and Sunday quorum and class meeting attendance (excluding Primary) in Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR) or Member Tools, including both number of members who attend in person and the number of those who attend remotely. (See Official Communication dated February 10, 2021 – 2021 Guidelines for Recording Attendance in Stake Conferences, Sacrament Meetings, and Sunday Quorum and Class Meetings)
Attendance recorded will be reflected, as follows, on your Quarterly Report in LCR:
Sacrament meeting attendance – Average of the first three months of recorded attendance.
Sunday quorum and class meeting attendance (excluding Primary) – Average recorded attendance in March.
Primary attendance will be calculated using historical unit reported attendance.
Please note this information cannot be changed on the Quarterly Report page in LCR. Any changes would need to be made on the “Class and Quorum Attendance” or “Sacrament Meeting Attendance” reports in LCR for the first quarter of 2021.
Many bishops’ offices, clerks’ offices, and meetinghouse resource centers contain excess and outdated materials. In considering what to discard, please refer to the list of meetinghouse resource center materials and guidelines on what to discard. Please also consider the following:
With the introduction of Come, Follow Me, many manuals have been replaced, including Primary 1–7, Gospel Doctrine, and youth Sunday School manuals.
The new Children and Youth program has replaced materials associated with Scouting, Duty to God, Personal Progress, and Faith in God.
Online processes in Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR) have replaced most administrative forms.
Clerks and resource center specialists should identify materials that are not being used regularly or that will not be used again and discard them or offer them to members for use at home. Clerks can also shred outdated stationery, forms, or sensitive materials.
To schedule an interview with a member of the stake presidency for temple recommends or BYU ecclesiastical endorsements send an email to stake.interview@csnorth.org or text/call 719-644-6401
Interviews are held on Thursday evenings at the stake offices or online (by appointment only) to not interfere with leader/parents commitments to weekly child and youth activity nights on Tuesday and Wednesday; church dress requested
Stake presidency interviews are not to be scheduled until after the bishopric interview is completed
Stake interviews are usually scheduled within a week of their request and should be completed within 30 days of the bishopric interview
Members are encouraged to keep their recommends current and avoid last-minute efforts to schedule an appointment under very difficult-to-fulfill time constraints; please plan ahead when scheduling your appointment
The stake offices are located as the southwest corner of the stake center with an access door to the right of the main foyer doors (8710 Lexington Dr; northwest corner of Lexington Dr and Research Blvd)
