Most announcements should be electronically distributed weekly prior to Sunday so they do not take time in sacrament meeting; the bishopric may give essential announcements briefly before the opening hymn (see General Handbook 29.2.2.2).
From Elder Quentin L. Cook's general conference talk Deep and Lasting Conversion to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ (after President Nelson's two-hour meeting block announcement), "To help members prepare for the Sabbath, some wards already send an informative email, text, or social media message midweek. In view of this adjustment, we strongly recommend this type of communication. These invitations will remind the members of the Sunday meeting schedule for that week, including the upcoming class lesson topic, and support continuing gospel conversation at home."

Dear Sisters and Brothers,
This past week a friend of mine shared with me an art form called Kintsukuroi. In Japan, Kintsukuroi means “to repair with gold." When a ceramic pot or bowl breaks, the artisan takes the broken pieces and carefully puts them back together using gold or silver lacquer. The product of the broken ceramic bowl now becomes something stronger and more beautiful than it was previously.
As shown in this picture, the breaking is not something to hide. It does not mean that the work of art is ruined or without value because it is now different than what was originally planned.
The concept behind Kintsukuroi is not just associated with the repair of pottery. More importantly it is associated with a way of living that embraces every flaw, every imperfection, and every occasional accident. Every crack (imperfection) is part of the history of the object (the person), and they become more beautiful and valued through the careful care and molding of the artisan (the Master).
During the October General Conference, Sis. Cristina Franco, Second Counselor in the Primary General Presidency spoke of a situation where her piano fell off a dolly while being moved and damaged the wood beyond what seemed to be repairable. She shared, “…aren’t we all like this piano, a little broken, cracked, and damaged, feeling like we will never be the same again? However, as we come unto Jesus Christ by exercising faith in Him, repenting, and making and keeping covenants, our brokenness – whatever its cause – can be healed. This process, which invites the Saviors healing power into our lives, does not just restore us to what we were before but makes us better than we ever were.”
Frequently, the experiences of life bring us closer to our loving Heavenly Father and help us better understand our purpose for being here. They can even leave us more appreciative than we were before. Several years ago, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law lost a 1-year-old daughter to a heartbreaking accident. Through this experience, they have often reflected on how much they have grown individually, as a couple, and as a family. Their understanding of many of the Saviors attributes of faith, hope, love, kindness, patience, and charity have increased immensely.
We bear our witness that through our Savior, Jesus Christ, we can all be mended, made whole, and fulfill our purpose for being on this earth. The cracks and struggles of life, the broken pieces of relationships, the lost family members, and the dreams that appear to be shattered, can all be carefully restored, strengthened, and made more beautiful and important than originally thought.

Many bishops’ offices, clerks’ offices, and meetinghouse resource centers contain excess and outdated materials. In considering what to discard, please refer to the list of meetinghouse resource center materials and guidelines on what to discard. Please also consider the following:
With the introduction of Come, Follow Me, many manuals have been replaced, including Primary 1–7, Gospel Doctrine, and youth Sunday School manuals.
The new Children and Youth program has replaced materials associated with Scouting, Duty to God, Personal Progress, and Faith in God.
Online processes in Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR) have replaced most administrative forms.
Clerks and resource center specialists should identify materials that are not being used regularly or that will not be used again and discard them or offer them to members for use at home. Clerks can also shred outdated stationery, forms, or sensitive materials.
